If you know me, you know I’ve been a fan of Star Trek basically since I first saw “Mr. Spock” on TV/Movies as a kid. I’m what I call an equal opportunity Trek fan. I love all things Star Trek. NCC-1701 and A, B, C, D, E, the whole alphabet, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, yes even the animated series. They all have their pros and cons and yet they all have stories to tell which are interesting even if sometimes they come up short. Recently (meaning since it was made available ~5 years ago) I’ve been watching all things Trek on CBS All Access and it’s great to have everything at my finger tips. If I want to watch episode 6 of season 3 of whatever series... boom! there it is on whatever screen I want. There are some who think if it’s not the series up to and including Enterprise, it’s not Start Trek. I don’t agree. Discovery, Picard, and the Lower Decks challenge us to see the world Gene Roddenberry created in a new light, a new perspective and to me that’s refreshing. Also, if you watch these series as well, don’t you like those new 31st century Starfleet uniforms? I think they are sharp. Not wild about the chevron-shaped rank collar insignia but I love the idea of the “Tri-com” badge. It’s a communicator, personal transporter, tricorder, and PADD, all built into one wearable badge on the chest. Trek truly looks futuristic again and I gotta imagine the prop department is loving the fact they don’t need to design and build seperate props for tricorders and PADDs. Most of the interactions with these are “virtual” so the FX people and Actors have their challenges in creating this high tech stuff in a believable way. It truly is an exciting time to be a Star Trek fan. We now have literally over 800 stories to watch now including all series and movies since the beginning in 1966. It would take you over 2 months of watching back to back episodes and movies for 12 hours a day to watch it all! It’s a universe I love escaping to whenever possible. Watch this ”space” (See what I did there?) for more on Trek in the future. Live Long and Prosper friends! 🖖
